Airport New City: A Fusion of Art and Architecture

ZN Design's Award-Winning Project Marries Modern Aesthetics and Futuristic Design

Located in Hangzhou, the city's window for the Asian Games, Airport New City is a unique project that draws its inspiration from the future minimalist lifestyle. The design integrates the aesthetics of art galleries, smooth dynamics, elegant spatial mobility, minimalist international aesthetics, and cross-border cultural tolerance. It brings continuity and vitality between spaces, creating an environment that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

The project's unique properties lie in its continuation of the study of art furnishings of modern aesthetics by ZN Design. The main case designer, Amy, proposed a curvilinear expression consistent with the language of the space. Surrealism, fluidity, weightlessness, and purity of art gallery style are slowly revealed, creating a unique and engaging environment.

The realization of this design involved a mix of surrealism, fluidity, weightlessness, and art museum style. Spanish glassware, Turkish imported microfiber leather, mirror black glass, high-reflectivity stainless steel color, straight-grained black oak, and neutral gray paint were used in the construction, creating a unique and visually stunning space.

The project, which covers an area of 1700 square meters, was completed between December 2019 and April 2020. The design process involved refining floor plans, refining 3D models, making project on-site stakeout, ordering custom-made art pieces, and rendering the complete space with famous photographers.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was choosing the precise idea to cut into the theme with the empty space. The idea was to turn the space into a futuristic and smooth spatial volume and give the space a perception of purity and height of a gallery. The large area of high-density of pillars in the important area was weakened, and the space boundary was reset.

Airport New City has been recognized for its innovative design and has been awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
